Blessing from Damascus: Among the hundreds congratulating President-elect Reuven Rivlin, a surprising greeting appeared from the Syrian opposition.
This morning, a letter arrived at Rivlin's office, signed by Muhammad Hussein Adnan, chairman of the Association of Revolutionaries for the Future of Syria. Adnan greeted the new president with warm greetings and hoped that his term would be "an opening for rapprochement between the Syrian and Israeli people after the fall of the criminal regime of the Assad family and their partners Iran and Hezbollah.".
In the letter, the opposition chairman expresses his willingness to take the first steps towards establishing true peace between the peoples based on partnership and trust. Adnan wished Rivlin to be invited to Damascus to participate in the celebrations of the independence and freedom of the Syrian people from the oppression of Bashar Assad's regime.
The letter was delivered to the President's Office by Mandy Safdie, an assistant to former MK Ayoub Kara, who is known to have ties to the Syrian opposition.
Rivlin's office was happy to receive the surprising letter.
Will Assad use this letter to prove his claims about cooperation between the "Zionist enemy" and the Syrian opposition?
