From mourning to a happy day: Shirel Shaar, the older sister of Gil-Ad, who was murdered more than two years ago in the kidnapping attack that shocked the country, got married this evening at a good and successful time, to her son-in-law Itamar Fishpedar.
Shiral is only two years older than her brother who was brutally murdered.
When she got engaged about two months ago, her mother, Bat-Galim Shaar, said: "It is important to emphasize that every child is a whole world. We are saddened by Gil-Ad's passing, but we are completely happy about the engagement and wish her all the best.".
Thousands attended the wedding tonight, including many public figures, led by the President of the State, Reuven Rivlin, who was honored with the first two blessings at the wedding - and said them orally, while ignoring the blessing given to him by the groom's father.
Gil-Ad Michael Shaar, a student at the 'Mekor Chaim' yeshiva in Gush Etzion, was kidnapped on Friday night, the 15th of Sivan 5774, along with his classmate Naftali Frankel, and 19-year-old Eyal Yifrach from the 'Shevi Hebron' yeshiva.

The two terrorists, Amar and Marwan Qawasmeh, posed as religious Jews and picked up the three boys in their car who were waiting for a ride at the Alon Shvut intersection, on their way home for Shabbat. After a few hundred meters, the terrorists made a U-turn toward Hebron and threatened the boys with a gun.
Gil-Ad Shaar still managed to call the police hotline 100 and whisper, "They kidnapped me," but within seconds the terrorists murdered Gil-Ad and his friends with point-blank range shots.
They hid their bodies in a nearby field, and they were only found after 18 nerve-wracking days, as part of Operation "Brothers' Return.".
