The kidnapped are still missing, but some people have found the cause that led to the kidnapping: Former Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin blames the Netanyahu government and its policy of releasing Palestinian prisoners in exchange for kidnapped soldiers on his Facebook page.
""It would be better if we thought about stopping the release of terrorists for kidnapped soldiers, or releasing terrorists instead of freezing construction in settlements during talks with the Palestinians, which is the main instigator of further kidnapping attacks!""
• Israeli driver: Two of the three boys were traveling with me before they were kidnapped
• These are the three kidnapped people • Preparing for a "huge wave of arrests""

• Jews around the world pose for photos with the sign: "Bring Back Our Boys"
• The President to Parents: "We Are One Family" Parents: "We Feel the Hug""

Diskin, who has consistently opposed the release of terrorists in exchange for continued negotiations with the Palestinians, also opposes the use of force against the Palestinian Authority during the current crisis. "I call experts who recommend using force against Abu Mazen and in general against the Palestinians and that way the problems will be solved for them, I do not accept it," Diskin wrote. "The missing/kidnapped boys need to be found, and we need to unite in a sense of shared fate and concern for the boys and in efforts to locate them and return them to their families.
""But, the statements about more force are as if we have not used and are not using force on a regular basis. Someone like me who was there for so many years will testify to that.".
Diskin: "44 attempts that have been thwarted in the last two years (at kidnapping) speak for themselves. So without cheap populism of 'let's use more force and the problem will be solved.' Policy is the main problem, in the current situation, and here the government and legislators have something to do.".
In an interview with Channel 2 on the eve of Memorial Day, Diskin said similar things: "It's not just a matter of blackmailing terrorism, it also encourages future attacks. This way, they don't understand that there is a price for terrorism. The people who come out of prison after serving prison terms undergo training and indoctrination into terrorism. They gain respect when they return to the field and become terrorist leaders.".
""It's not a process that happens in a day or two, sometimes it takes a year or two until they rebuild their lives and return to activity - and then you see their involvement in terrorism on the ground.".
