A public confrontation developed today (Sunday) on the X network between Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and German Ambassador to Israel Steffen Seibert.

The background to the conflict: a tweet by the ambassador in which he linked the casualties from Iranian missiles and Hezbollah gunfire in recent days and the murder of 18-year-old Yehuda Shmuel Sherman in a terrorist attack in Samaria, along with violent incidents by Jewish extremists in Palestinian villages.

Seibert wrote: "A day of rage and sadness - a farmer was killed by Hezbollah in the north, hundreds were injured by Iranian missiles in the south and center. And in a parallel reality: violent settler rampage in Palestinian villages following the tragic death of one of them, which will be investigated.".

Minister Saar was furious at the comparison and wrote: "Ambassador Seibert finds it very difficult to condemn attacks against Israelis without raising the issue of the Palestinians. His obsession with Jews living in Judea and Samaria prevents him from even condemning the death of a Jew caused by a Palestinian.".

The minister added, hinting that Seibert is ending his role soon and that the political elite is satisfied with his replacement. "It's good to know that a new ambassador will arrive soon - one who will strengthen Israel-Germany relations.".

Seibert responded to Saar: "Minister, I have publicly condemned Iran's indiscriminate attacks on Israeli civilians and the criminal use of cluster bombs. Germany's position on this matter is clear. We stand with Israel in this war. Settler violence also worries us greatly - as it worries the Israeli president and other leaders.".
