The Society for the Protection of Nature's 'Shakamim' Field School recommends a hiking trail in the Jerusalem Mountains, which combines green nature and gushing springs.
A white ridge, characterized by a Mediterranean forest, colorful blooms in the spring months, and two central springs - Ein Laban - a stratified spring, which flows from a hewn hole, feeding two pools, one shallow, and the other deeper.
The spring got its name from the white color of the rocks of the ridge from which it springs. It is surrounded by orchards of seven species of trees: olive, fig and pomegranate. Ein Itamar - a stratified spring, which springs from the limestone rock and bursts into a deep, clear pool.
Recommended route - Walking on the Israel Trail (white, blue, orange) from Ein Laban, about 2 km, to Ein Itamar. The walk is clear, on a wide trail and back from there.
Tips - You must bring clothes to enter the water. Both springs are well-known and popular, so it is recommended to arrive early.
Public transportation – By train to Yitzhak Navon station, at the entrance to the city, and from there a bus to the “Tzomet Ora” station. From there, cross the road and join the Israel Trail. Go down following the trail markings, to Ein Lavan.
