The IDF and Shin Bet attacked last night (Thursday) in the northern Gaza Strip and killed senior members of the general security apparatus of the Hamas terrorist organization.
The General Security Mechanism is a central and secret mechanism responsible for the security of senior Hamas officials, the communication between them, and the content of their meetings.
Senior IDF officials are responsible for securing senior Hamas officials, transporting emergency assets, and creating intelligence images, including gathering intelligence on the security forces, which assists the organization's senior officials in making decisions and executing terror plans against the State of Israel.
The attack killed terrorist Hassan Rabah Hassan Lebed, deputy head of the General Security and a key figure in decision-making and developing directives within the apparatus.
Also eliminated were the terrorists A'zam Amin Shalash Shabir, Abdullah Atta Yunis Abu Klub, and Muhammad Nu'man Zaki Abu Mark - three other senior figures who were central decision-makers in the apparatus.
Senior members of the general security apparatus were eliminated in order to remove the threat, after they had recently been involved in attempts to rehabilitate the terrorist organization Hamas and in assisting the organization's senior members in promoting terrorist activity against the State of Israel and IDF forces.
