Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir today (Thursday) appointed Brigadier General Tal Politis to the position of IDF attaché in Washington.
As part of the appointment, Politis will be promoted to the rank of major general.
In addition, in accordance with the conclusion of the staffing discussion several months ago, Brigadier General Barak Hiram will be appointed to the position of head of the Operations Brigade and will take up his position in the coming days - replacing Brigadier General Israel Shomer, who was dismissed.
The Chief of Staff called the officers and congratulated them.
The appointments were approved by Defense Minister Israel Katz.
The move comes just hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the appointment of Brigadier General Guy Marchisano as his military secretary.
Marchisano, who until now served as the military secretary to the Minister of Defense, will also be promoted to the rank of major general and replace Major General Roman Goffman, who was appointed head of the Mossad.
