""Walking Before the Camp" - a new documentary series will air on Channel 20 and will deal with the story of the great rabbis in the world of Torah and contemporary Halacha.
The series will combine exclusive interviews with family members, the rabbis' students, their assistants, academics, writers, leading historians, and more, who will present new details about the rabbis' public, overt, and covert activities.
In each episode, the series will focus on the life of one groundbreaking rabbi, who is a central figure in religious and national public life.
The episodes of the series will deal with Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and Rabbi Kook, each of whom in their own way caused a revolution.
The series provides a unique perspective that shatters prejudices and reveals to viewers the life stories of the rabbis, the series' heroes, without compromise or assumptions. The story of their turbulent lives, as well as their difficult battles on the path and halakhic perceptions of the series' heroes, are intertwined with the history of the Jewish people since the days of the Holocaust, battles for liberation and independence of the state, bereavement, victories, acts of kindness and charity.
Dr. Yechiel Harari said in the episode dealing with the Lubavitcher Rebbe, which will be broadcast on October 15 at 10:00 PM on Channel 20: "The Rebbe, the word 'Kabbalist', perhaps does not characterize him that much, even though he is well-versed in all the Kabbalah writings, because he breaks all the myths, all the stigmas that we could think of about a Kabbalist person.".
Dr. Shelly Goldberg, a lecturer in Kabbalah and Hasidism at Bar Ilan University: "The Rebbe was one of the greatest Kabbalists. He mastered the manifest and the hidden, but of course, like the other great men of Israel who dealt with the secret, he hid the parts of the secret in his heart. Kabbalah is the tool of his art. He knows a secret and he also knows how to bring it from power to action, undoubtedly as a result of revelation.".
Dr. Yechiel Harari: "For him, a kabbalist is not someone who isolates himself in some dark room and... for him, a kabbalist is someone who is focused every moment on this moment. If the world is created anew every moment and if you manage to understand what is happening in this moment, manage to understand the order, what is hidden behind each moment, you have to behave as this moment requires. You reveal something extraordinary in it.".
The series was created by director Yossi Ashdot, who has directed dozens of documentaries. The series was accompanied by academic Dr. Tzachi Hershkovich from Bar-Ilan University.
• "Walking Before the Camp" will air starting on September 24th, every Saturday at 10:00 PM. Haredim 10 presents a sneak peek at the episode about the Lubavitcher Rebbe, zt"l.
