Reformers are often accused of being nothing more than a clown. Some find this term jarring and offensive to their ears.
But is there another term that fits the struggle that is taking place these days following the Reform demand to use purification baths?
Don't be fooled by the supposedly serious headlines and the arguments for and against. We are simply watching a skit, behind which stands a genius creator, and whose greatness lies in impersonating serious news reports.
This is grotesque, the mockery of reality and its absurdity.
Come on, Reformers and Mikveh?
Longing for a mikveh...
The essence of the reform is to 'adapt' the Jewish religion to the modern world and eliminate everything that does not sound enlightened in contemporary terms.
In the Reform view, there is no place for the laws of kashrut and the prohibitions of the Sabbath, the laws of tefillin and tzitzit, and the wearing of the four species on Sukkot. Even basic rules of the Jewish people, such as determining Judaism by mother, have undergone reform, and in the eyes of the Reformers, even children of non-Jewish mothers are considered Jews.
Of all the Torah commandments, the laws of impurity and purity are the furthest from the world of modern concepts. These are laws that are not understood at all by human logic. We do not understand what impurity is and what purity is, and the Torah itself says that there is no logic to be sought here, but rather that this is the Creator's decree, as the Maimonides clarifies at the end of the Laws of Mikvah: "It is clear and evident that impurity and purity are the decree of Scripture, and are not matters that a person's mind decides upon, and after all, they are among the laws.".
And suddenly the Reformers discovered the mikveh!
Their souls yearned for purity so much that they brought the matter before the High Court of Justice, which did not notice that it was a joke and ruled that Reform Jews should also be allowed to conduct ceremonies in mikvahs.
Now the Knesset is trying to deal with this entertainment show.
If you will, this show is an excellent illustration of the essence of the entire Reform movement. It is all a poor imitation of the Jewish religion, without a modicum of shame.
If they had a modicum of self-respect, they would try to develop their own rituals and an independent world of concepts. Instead, they cling to Judaism in which they do not believe, emptying Jewish concepts of all content.
Without a shred of self-respect
What is the point of insisting on immersion in a mikveh during the Reform 'conversion' process? Why not be original?
It could be stated that the process of entering Judaism is abseiling or skydiving. The 'Rabbi' or 'Rabba' could develop a wonderful sermon on the symbolic meaning of floating between earth and heaven.
The Reform use of original Torah scrolls (out of contempt for their sanctity) also suffers from the same lack of creativity. What's the point of using ancient scrolls, written by a scribe? Wouldn't it be better to use a digital monitor on which selected passages are projected? This can also blend in wonderfully with public singing.
All of this could be amusing if it weren't a sad reality.
We are faced with a phenomenon that is all about deception and forgery, imitation and impersonation, without a shred of self-respect. Unfortunately, the media and anti-religious elements are cooperating with this clowning as part of their war on the religion of Israel.
But from time to time it is worth mentioning the truth: there is neither a 'sect' nor a 'religion' here, but a lie and distortion.
