Minister Ben Gvir confirmed: Haredi communities have been added to the list of communities eligible for a weapons license

As part of the expansion of the weapons reform led by the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, additional cities, towns, and regional councils have been approved as eligible for a personal weapons license.

Among the new settlements there are also ultra-Orthodox settlements.

The decision was made after staff work and a professional examination by the Israel Police, and the professionals in the Firearms Licensing and Supervision Division.

Following the decision, citizens in these localities will be eligible to apply for a license, subject to meeting the criteria and conditions set forth in the law.

The localities and councils join dozens of localities across the country that have already been designated as areas eligible for weapons as part of the reform.

The full list of new councils and localities that have been approved:

  • Cities and localities: Ra'anana, Gedera, Pardesiya and Bnei Aisha.
  • Gederot Regional Council: Gan Hadarom, Kfar Aviv, Kfar Mordechai, Mishar, Misgav Dov, Asheret, Shadma.
  • Nahal Sorek Regional Council: Yesodost, Beit Hilkiya, Bnei Ram, Ganei Tal, Hafetz Chaim, Yad Binyamin, Netzer Hazani.
  • Yavneh District Regional Council: Beit Gamliel, Ben Zakkai, Beit Raban, Bnei Darom, Nir Galim, Yavneh Group.

    Since the expansion of the reform, over 250,000 citizens have already received a personal firearms license, an unprecedented figure.

Residents have a basic right to protect themselves and their families. My policy is clear: weapons in the right hands save lives.”.
