President Donald Trump addressed the exchange of fire between the US military and the Iranian military on the social network Truth Social last night (Friday night).
The president wrote in the post: "Three world-class American destroyers have just successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz under fire. No damage was done to the three destroyers, but very heavy damage was done to the Iranian attackers.".
""They were completely destroyed along with many small boats, which they use to replace their fleet, which was completely decapitated. These boats sank to the bottom of the sea quickly and efficiently. Missiles were fired at our destroyers, but they were easily shot down. Drones also came, and burned up while still in the air. They fell into the ocean so beautifully, just like a butterfly falling into its grave!"
""A normal country would allow these destroyers to pass, but Iran is not a normal country. It is led by madmen, and if they had the opportunity to use nuclear weapons - they would, without a doubt. But they will never have that opportunity, and as they have prepared them today, we will hit them much harder and with much more violence in the future, if they do not sign their agreement - and quickly!""
""Our three destroyers, along with their wonderful crews, will now rejoin our naval blockade, which is truly a 'wall of steel.'".
In an interview with ABC, the president responded to the confrontation with Iran tonight - saying: "The ceasefire continues, it is in effect. The attacks were a 'love pat'.".
