
The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment today (Thursday) with the city's Magistrate's Court against Yona Schreiber, 36, from the settlement of Paduel, for attacking a Christian nun near David's Tomb in Jerusalem.
The prosecution is asking the court to order the arrest of the defendant until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
According to the indictment, filed through the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office, Schreiber noticed the complainant wearing the clothes of a Christian nun, and because of this, he decided to attack her.
According to the indictment, he ran towards her, pushed her forcefully, causing her to fall to the ground. Then, while the complainant was lying on the ground, Schreiber returned and kicked her hard.
The indictment also states that a person present at the scene tried to prevent Schreiber from continuing the attack, but Schreiber also attacked him with punches and kicks.
As a result of the attack, the complainant suffered a hemorrhage on her face and signs of bruising on her leg.
The investigation was conducted by David Area police officers in the Jerusalem District Police Department.
Schreiber was charged with assault causing actual harm motivated by hostility toward the public on grounds of religion, as well as simple assault.
