After the publication of details of the composition of judges who will hear petitions filed with the High Court of Justice against the appointment of Roman Gofman as head of the Mossad, Channel 12's senior political commentator, Amit Segal, estimated that the composition would make it difficult to approve the appointment.

The members of the selected panel are judges Ofer Grosskopf, Alex Stein and Dafna Barak Erez.

Segal wrote on his channel: "The lineup is bad for Goffman.".

The political correspondent for 'Kan HaHades', Michael Shemesh, also wrote: "On the face of it - the lineup is tough for Roman Gofman. His chances of being appointed to the position of head of the Mossad did not improve tonight.".

Earlier this week, the Advisory Committee for Appointments to Senior Positions, headed by retired Supreme Court President Asher Grunis, approved Goffman's candidacy.

Grunis himself opposed the appointment in a minority opinion, due to his involvement in the affair involving the use of the teenager Uri Almakiis, who was recruited while he was a minor for an intelligence operation without authority, an operation that became complicated and ended in an arrest and a serious indictment.

The petitions were filed based on the minority opinion.
