The chairman of the Knesset National Security Committee, MK Zvika Fogel of Otzma Yehudit, apologized tonight (Monday) in a tweet on his X account for his comments against President Donald Trump.
At the start of the government meeting that took place today, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attacked Fogel, saying: "I ask the ministers and MKs to choose their words carefully. I give instructions on when and how to express themselves and also when not to. You need to consult before you speak.".
Yesterday, Vogel tweeted against Trump after the president announced a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, writing: "Donald, if you want to shoot - shoot, don't miss" - while adding a duck emoji.
This was the second time Vogel has called Trump a "duck" after last week he wrote after the president announced the ceasefire: "Donald, you came out a duck.".
The first tweet was deleted a few hours later, and tonight's tweet, which reached almost half a million impressions on the X network, was also deleted.
In the apology tweet, he wrote: "Mr. President, just as you think about the good of the United States, so do I think about the good of the State of Israel - and it is the only one that stands before my eyes. The intention of my criticism was to be heard, and it succeeded and reached the right ears, but there was no intention to hurt or belittle, and for that I regret it. I have great respect and appreciation for our partners and you are at their head. It is important that we continue on this path until victory.".
