Yair Lapid's bill to declare Qatar an enemy state was defeated this afternoon (Wednesday) in the Knesset plenum.
28 Knesset members supported, 45 opposed - and the proposal was not approved.
The bill, which included only one clause, sought to determine that Qatar would be defined as an enemy state, and that all provisions applicable in Israeli law to enemy states, in all forms of legislation, would apply to it.
Yesh Atid called the law the "Urich Law" after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's close advisor.
The Blue and White faction, which was absent from the vote, said: "It is not right to raise political issues during a regional war. Even Lapid, who has been in contact with the Qataris, knows this.".
