Minister Dudi Amsalem of the Likud attacked this morning (Wednesday), in an interview he gave to "Kelman-Lieberman" on Channel 2, Attorney Gali Baharav Meyara, Deputy Attorney General Gil Limon, and the court judges - because of their opposition to the Basic Law on Torah Study: "They are engaging in anti-Semitic activity.".
""I see it as blasphemy. I see that the value of the Torah has become a concept that actually comes to persecute people," Amsalem said. "The concept of 'studying Torah' has become a person who can be beaten up when he gets off a bus stop, slapped and left. The blood of all the Haredim has been drained. Anyone who studies Torah has become an enemy of the nation.".
The Likud minister also referred to the Deputy President of the Supreme Court, Noam Solberg: "I think he's not a particularly smart guy, and that's why he's collaborating with some movement that wants to literally erase all the foundations. I think he's more stupid than anti-Semitic, because he's collaborating with someone who wants to erase the foundations of Judaism in the Land of Israel.".
Amsalem continued to attack Solberg in the interview: "He comes and represents the world of religious Zionism. Why do people in Seder yeshivot serve for a year and a half and I served for three years? So why don't we also take down the Seder?""
Amsalem also expressed strong opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's demand to accept 10 candidates on the Likud list in the upcoming elections.
""I will fight for this until the last drop of my blood," Amsalem declared. "The prime minister is wrong. He invented this nonsense about the armored vehicles. Begin and Shamir never armored vehicles. This is a democratic party. Whoever wants to, let them come and be elected. No armored vehicle adds anything to the Likud list.".
Amsalem also referred to the discussions in the Knesset committee on the immunity of MK Tali Gottlieb, after an indictment was filed against her for revealing the identity of a Shin Bet agent married to Shmika Bresler. "The immunity of a MK is a fundamental immunity. Ben-Gurion opposed immunity because MKs were being listened to and followed, but in the end the law was enacted. It is the most correct law that was made at the time.".
He added: "A Knesset member should have immunity so that he can act and say what he thinks the public must know. Let's say that tomorrow, the Shin Bet abducts people and they declare it confidential. So will the Knesset member come and say that he is not allowed to talk about it?""
