As the elections approach, the struggles for control in the left bloc intensify: Opposition leader Yair Lapid declared today (Monday), at the beginning of the Yesh Atid faction meeting in the Knesset, his intention to lead the bloc, and claimed - even though he is scraping the threshold in the polls - that he is the only candidate capable of it: "Forming a government is not a hobby - it is a profession, I am the only one in the camp who has done it," he claimed.
Lapid: "For nearly two years, every time I came in here and you asked me about the next elections, I said: 'We will win.' We, meaning the bloc, the liberal camp. I can't say that anymore.
""The polls that are being published, and also very worrying in-depth studies that have not been published, say that it is no longer certain that the liberal bloc will win. If we don't come to our senses - we will lose. If we continue to work against each other - we will lose. You don't win elections by constantly talking about how much the opposition has failed, just to shave another seat from Yesh Atid. If Yesh Atid is not strong, the camp will not win.".
He said, "If we want to win the election - which is going to be the most difficult and critical election that has ever been held here - against an opponent who has no problem cheating and lying and trying to steal the election - we need to place a formidable machine in front of him, one that does not see eye to eye.
""To win the elections, you need iron discipline, you need tens of thousands of activists on the streets, and only Yesh Atid has that. To build a government later, you need political skill and political experience that very few people have. This is not the time to gamble. You need to play it safe.".
He added and claimed: "When you vote for Yesh Atid, you are 100 percent sure that we will not bow down and enter another Netanyahu government. We will not bow down and form a government with the Haredim that will continue with the blackmail and evasion.".

We are not fighting here for the size of parties, we are fighting for the fate of our children, for what kind of country we want to be, and what values it will have.".
""If we do everything we need to, even then it's not certain that we will win - but at least we gave ourselves a chance. Otherwise, at the end of the long night of our lives, Benjamin and Sarah and Yair Netanyahu will take the stage shining, and shout 'We won, we won, we won again.'".
""There is only one important question this year: how do you win? Yesh Atid is the key to victory. If it is not strong, the camp will lose the elections.".
