A 14-year-old boy cleared cow manure - and lost consciousness

A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured while clearing waste from a barn where he worked with his father. • During the clearing, a methane gas accumulation was released and the boy lost consciousness.

In Kibbutz Tzora, near Beit Shemesh, a 14-year-old boy was seriously injured while clearing debris from a barn where he worked with his father. Apparently, during the clearing, a methane gas accumulation was released and the boy lost consciousness.

Paramedics and pharmacists from MDA and United Hatzalah performed CPR on him. He was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in serious condition, after CPR.

MDA paramedic Hanan Meir says that the boy was found at the scene on top of a truck. With the assistance of firefighters, a tractor was brought to the scene, and they went up to treat him on the ground.

Yanki Shkol, a United Hatzalah paramedic, said: "When I arrived at the scene, along with other paramedics, we began CPR on the truck until it was rescued by a tractor, with the assistance of fire crews.

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the police.

Hadassah Hospital reported that a 14-year-old boy arrived at the hospital's trauma unit unconscious and in CPR. The medical team continued the CPR process. The boy underwent a CT scan and was hospitalized in the general intensive care unit.
