Sewer overflows in Bnei Brak reach the Knesset: For entire Saturdays, the city's streets turn into rivers of sewage and stench - with scenes that are more reminiscent of cities in third world countries than a central, wealthy city in Israel.

Following the worsening sewer flooding crisis in the city, the Interior Committee, headed by MK Yitzhak Kreuzer, will hold a special discussion, initiated by Yaakov Wider, a member of the Bnei Brak City Council and chairman of the Likud faction in the city.

Wider warmly thanked MK Yitzhak Kreuzer on behalf of the residents of Bnei Brak for his quick response to hold the discussion and for standing by the city's residents - "despite all the pressure.".

Wieder said: "Anyone who sees the distorted images from Bnei Brak may be confused that this is Gaza. This is not how one of the largest cities in Israel should look, and this is not how one of the richest municipalities in the country should be run. It is time for the municipal officials who refuse to give answers to the public to be forced to give answers to the legislator.""

It should be noted that the person who until recently headed the committee was MK Yaakov Asher, from United Torah Judaism, whose mayors have served as mayors for decades.
