לפי דיווח של עמית סגל בחדשות 12, היא וחטופים אחרים הוחזקו במנהרה ברצועת עזה, כאשר לפתע הורגשה תכונה ואז נפתחה דלת. בפתח הדלת עמד אדם מזוקן שדיבר אליהם בעברית מצוינת ללא מבטא - ושמו: יחיא סינוואר.

Sinwar, who personally ordered the murder, rape, massacre, and beheading, wanted to find out about the condition of the hostages, looked at them in the tunnel, and told them: "Hello, I am Yahya Sinwar, you are the most protected here. Nothing will happen to you.".
