Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz visited the absorption and selection base in Tel Hashomer today (Sunday), where they met with recruits for the Armored Corps.
The visit began with a meeting with the recruits in the military chain, before they put on their uniforms, and then the two spoke with the new soldiers and answered their questions about the war and combat service in the IDF.
Netanyahu referred to the importance of the Armored Corps in the ongoing campaign: "I am here visiting the IDF with soldiers who are enlisting in the Armored Corps today. This has an integral part, a critical part, in our war on seven fronts, the War of Rebirth, in which we are winning.".
He added: "We are winning because we understand that in order to defeat our enemies, those who are closing in on us, we break through them with crushing ground force, in addition to the excellent work of the Air Force, Intelligence, Navy and of course the infantry. We bring tremendous crushing force - that is the armor. If anyone praised the armor, he learned today to appreciate the tremendous power that this force has and its importance in defeating the enemy. I must say one more thing that is always true, and that is the spirit of the fighters inside the tanks.".
Netanyahu emphasized the importance of the fighting spirit among the soldiers: "The spirit of the fighters and the other units of the IDF, this spirit as it came today in the volunteerism that I saw here; people who want to be artillerymen, people who want to be tank commanders, people who want to take every possible step and take a personal part in the victory of the people of Israel to ensure the eternity of Israel. This is the real key to victory. We will complete this victory as soon as possible.".
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his military secretary, Maj. Gen. Roman Goffman, his spokesman, Omar Dostri, head of the IDF's General Staff, Maj. Gen. Dado Bar Khalifa, chief armor officer, Brigadier General Ohad Maor, Lt. Col. Shai Taib, and Meitav Commander, Col. Yifat Asher.
