""When we arrived at the scene, we saw a pedestrian - an 81-year-old gas station worker who had been hit by a truck. Unfortunately, MDA teams were forced to confirm his death at the scene. According to the suspicion being investigated by the police, prior to the incident, an argument had developed between the truck driver and the deceased, who worked at the gas station on site. ZAKA volunteers from the Lachish area worked at the scene to preserve the dignity of the deceased and collect the remains for burial.""
Avi Deri, ZAKA commander for the Lachish region, added: "This is the fourth fatality in less than a week in the Lachish sector, with all the fatal incidents occurring in the same area. Last Monday, a pedestrian was killed on Highway 3 near Hodiya and a young man and woman were killed in a serious accident on Highway 232 near Kochav Michael, and this morning another pedestrian was killed at the Nir Banim intersection.
""These figures must turn on a red light for all of us. We call on the public, drivers and pedestrians, to show responsibility, patience and increased vigilance to prevent the next disaster.""
