For the New Year: Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai made a comprehensive visit to the Chabad village yesterday (Monday) and was surprised to see that among the hosts waiting for him at the entrance to the settlement were three of the most important rabbis and Chabad emissaries in Ukraine - Rabbi Moshe Moskowitz, rabbi of Kharkiv, Rabbi Nachum Erantroy, rabbi of Zhaprozh, and Rabbi Mordechai Lebenaretz, rabbi of Kiev, who came especially to welcome him and salute him for his activity on behalf of the country's Jews in the most challenging year of their lives.
These major cities have made headlines many times in the past few months since the war broke out. The rabbis who remained on duty on mission are in constant contact with the Minister of Diaspora, and he was excited to meet them physically during the special visit to the Chabad village.
Minister Shai's visit began at the village's etrog orchard. The minister was greeted by Hasidic farmer Elazar Garlick, who told him about the history of the orchard, which provides thousands of exquisite etrogs every year.
From there, Minister Shai continued to the village's honey apiary, where he was welcomed by the Schneerson family. The Minister was exposed to the honey production process.
The heart of the Minister of Diaspora's visit was a visit to "770" - a replica of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's home in Brooklyn. The Minister was invited to place tefillin and even led a prayer.
Rabbi Erantroy, rabbi of Zhafrozh, blew the shofar.
The visit concluded with the presentation of the "Rescue Sign" to the Minister of Diaspora, which was presented by Chabad emissary Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Peles - who heads Chabad's emergency and rescue system in Ukraine, along with Chabad rabbis and emissaries. The rabbis thanked the minister for his ongoing activity on behalf of the Jewish communities.
