The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment today (Monday) with the Central Lod District Court against an Israeli citizen, Amran Sarsour, 26, from Kafr Qassem, for contact with a foreign agent who acted on behalf of the Hamas terrorist organization.
The indictment filed by Attorney Hila Cohen Kadosh of the Central District Attorney's Office indicates that Sarsour had contact via Telegram with elements of the "Khaliya 48" organization, which is working to promote an influence campaign on social media aimed at deepening the rift and division in Israeli society and inciting protest against the State of Israel and its institutions.
According to the indictment, a pimp was recruited into the activity after receiving explanatory messages about the organization's goals, and was later instructed to open a fictitious account on the X network with the false identity of an Israeli citizen, under the name "Rosenberg Daniel.".
He then joined a Telegram group where content in Hebrew was distributed daily, which he received in Arabic translation, selected various pieces of content from among them, and published them through the fictitious account he set up.
As part of his activities, he published a long series of posts, photos, cartoons, and videos intended to stir up public controversy, undermine public trust in state institutions, and encourage protest against the government and against continued fighting. Among other things, he published content that dealt with the issue of the abductees, harshly criticized the state's leadership, and alleged intentional harm to the abductees and IDF soldiers.
He also published content that included edited or fake videos and photos, including documentation of elected officials and their families, alongside messages intended to arouse public anger and frustration.
Among other things, the defendant published a fake video showing the Prime Minister and his family on the beach alongside soldiers carrying a stretcher with the caption: "Netanyahu and his family live on the blood of our soldiers," as well as a video mocking Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.
In response to a post mocking Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, the defendant wrote on his fake account: "There is no escape from assassinating leaders.".
In addition, he published posts calling for refusal to serve in the IDF.
The indictment indicates that Sarsour was aware that he was in contact with elements hostile to the State of Israel and nevertheless continued to cooperate with them. During the activity, he even approached his friend and suggested that he open a fictitious account and publish similar content, but his offer was rejected.
The Central District Attorney's Office is seeking to order Sarsour's arrest until the end of the legal proceedings against him, as he committed security offenses while the State of Israel is waging one of the most difficult wars it has ever known, all with the aim of inciting against the state and the government, in an attempt to turn the country's citizens against each other.
His actions were stopped following security forces' actions that led to his arrest.
