Heating. The door, which probably wasn't locked properly, caused the wind to penetrate and blow the window curtain straight into the heater coils.
Within minutes, the curtain began to burn, and with it the entire living room, with thick smoke enveloping everything, and in the next room I was sleeping. A small baby.
A young teacher, Mirka Maidanczyk, worked with my parents on the school staff. Under private supervision, Mirka arrived to pick up something from the teachers' apartment, which is next to our house, and noticed the thick smoke. Meanwhile, the commotion reached the school nearby, with everyone fearing for my safety.
Mirka didn't hesitate and burst into the house with all her heart, groping through the burning walls, pulling me out of my bed - and coming out with flames engulfing every corner. Miraculously, nothing happened to me.
She says that for days her lungs were filled with smoke from the fire.
The damage to the house was extensive, as evidenced by the burned books in my father's library.
When we meet, dear Mirka remembers the miracle of my rescue and adds with a smile that it was worth it...
Thank you, Lord, for your miracles that are with us every day.
Thank you Mirka for saving my life!
Happy Hanukkah with many miracles and wonders for all the people of Israel.
