Lawyer David Shob, who handled the petition of the Tel Aviv business owners, along with lawyer Ivri Feingold, refers to Interior Minister Gideon Sa'ar's decision not to approve the bylaw that the Tel Aviv Municipality requested to be enacted into law, prohibiting the opening of supermarkets throughout Tel Aviv, except in special entertainment venues.
• Saar stated: Supermarkets will open in Tel Aviv on Saturday – only in entertainment complexes
In a conversation with Haredim10, he says again: "The Minister of the Interior made the only decision he could make. The decision joins the recent rulings of the Supreme Court and the Administrative Court on the same issue.".
The lawyer explains that "blatant discrimination of container owners in favor of competing criminal networks cannot be approved, and we cannot make fun of the value of a weekly day of rest and turn hard-working people into slaves.".
The Tel Aviv Municipality, he said, tried to circumvent Knesset laws and the Supreme Court ruling, and it's good that the minister made the right decision.
A lawyer once again promises that small business owners in Tel Aviv will continue to fight for fairness in commercial life in Tel Aviv.
What about the Sabbath desecrations that still remain in the 'special compounds'?
""The Minister of the Interior made a basically decent decision. We are glad that the minister understood the situation regarding the container owners, and we are sorry that he did not disallow the opening of 3 complexes that also create unfair competition just like the food business.".
""The Merchants Association is considering petitioning the High Court of Justice against the Minister of the Interior in this matter.".
