A tiny, unmanned helicopter crashed in a prison yard in Dublin, Ireland. Prison guards who arrived at the scene were shocked to discover the tiny aircraft loaded with illegal smoking materials.
The incident, reported on the Sky News website, occurred about a week ago when prison staff noticed a small aircraft hovering over the prison yard.
Within minutes, the drone plummeted and crashed in the center of the yard. The investigation revealed that the prisoners were planning to smuggle a large container of illegal smoking materials into the prison - and organized a flight from the outside straight inside.
According to the plan, officials outside the prison would navigate the helicopter with a remote control, and wait until the right time to land the helicopter safely in one of the corners of the yard. Then the cargo would be handled by prisoners waiting for it, and after it was unloaded, it would be sent on its way again.
But everything went wrong, and the drone landed abruptly and crashed.
The prisoners who were waiting for him quickly ran towards him and tried to remove his load from him. But the prison staff who arrived on the scene also arrested them, confiscated the device, and sent them to isolation.
