Four minors from Gush Etzion were arrested at their home around 4:00 AM (Sunday). Police and detectives arrived at their home and woke them up from their sleep.
The minors were taken for questioning at the SY Police Station, where they were questioned about an incident from many months ago. After their questioning, the four were released on bail without restrictive conditions.
The Honenu organization, which provided legal assistance to minors, is attacking the police's conduct. "It is not possible that minors would be dragged out of bed in the early morning for questioning about an incident from many months ago, without the police making an attempt to summon them for questioning in an orderly manner, as is customary.
""The fact that after their interrogation they were released without any restrictive conditions indicates that there was no need for detention and that it was possible to summon them in an orderly manner for interrogation, and spare them a traumatic and difficult event," they say in our midst.
In our opinion, they added: "The Israel Police have forgotten the law and the ruling that arrest should be used as a last resort. Throughout the country, the Israel Police systematically summons suspects for questioning, only the Israel Police trample on every law and allow themselves to harm minors.".
""It seems that the purpose of the arrest is not for investigation purposes but for punishment and persecution purposes. Children are being punished without regard to their age and the scars they leave behind, as if there is no tomorrow. A minor is a child, and needs to be treated as such, even if they have wigs. It is unfortunate to see that the Israel Police harm minors so severely. We intend to take action on the matter.""
