Journalist Yedidia Meir closed the satire section 'Afas' and left Yedioth

In a letter sent by the founder of Apes to Yedioth Ahronoth employees, and published in Walla Barangay, he writes: "Such a section should be done with enthusiasm, and I personally have been enthusiastic lately about a variety of other pursuits in my life and feel a sense of exhaustion."'

העיתונאי ידידיה מאיר, עורך מדור הסאטירה  'אפעס', עוזב את 'ידיעות אחרונות'. במכתב ששלח מאיר לעובדים ופורסם לראשונה ב'וואלה ברנז'ה' נכתב: "הודעתי בימים האחרונים לרון ירון (עורך ידיעות) ולאביב הברון (עורך המוסף הפוליטי) על רצוני להפסיק את הופעת המדור". ידידיה הוסיף: "מדור כזה צריך לעשות בהתלהבות, ואני אישית מתלהב לאחרונה משלל עיסוקים אחרים בחיי, וחש תחושת מיצוי. אני מצטער על כך שאני מצער אתכם, ומודה לכם - וכמובן לאנשי ידיעות". ''Apes' was first published as an online collection in the early 2000s. Among its first writers were the writer and now Justice of the Peace Yair Hasdiel, and Kobi Arieli. The section was then established and published in Haaretz. In 2008, it moved to the political supplement of Yedioth Ahronoth. Yedidia Meir publishes a popular weekly column in the newspaper 'Besheva'. He previously wrote a weekly column in the newspaper 'Bekhila'.
