Aboutbol is not silent: The mayor of Beit Shemesh filed a police complaint today (Wednesday) for incitement, against social media users who incited against him and the city's ultra-Orthodox public.

In recent years, relations between the ultra-Orthodox and secular communities in Beit Shemesh have been very tense. Over the years, and especially during the last election campaign, many insults have been directed at Aboutbol personally and at the general Haredi public, some of which cross the red line of incitement prohibited by law.

Now, in light of the increasing calls from various activists who are trying to divide Beit Shemesh, Aboutbol decided to stop holding back and file a formal complaint with the police. Over a period of time, his office collected hundreds of talkbacks, posts and comments that were published online, especially on social media, and today the documentation was submitted to the Beit Shemesh police.

Here is a random collection of the comments that were published and handed over to the police: "The Haredim are a cancer, the Haredim are a cancerous growth in Israeli society, the cancer of the State of Israel, contaminated, humanists, an ayatollah, a gang leader" - and this is only a small sample, because a large part of the things are not worthy of publication.

Aboutbol said today that he filed the complaint out of his public responsibility. He said that the situation had reached its limits and red lines had been crossed in this struggle.

In a conversation with Haredim10, Aboutbol said that he continues to build the city together with the coalition, and that a 2014 budget is now being submitted to the council, which includes the needs of all the city's residents, both secular and Haredim. Aboutbol called on opposition activists to stop the war and take part in the development of Beit Shemesh.הסתה בבית שמש2
