The local Sheltan Center, which brings together many municipal employees who pay membership fees, invited its members to an annual training course at the Sharon Hotel in Herzliya. The program includes lectures and tours, but also an artistic program - which surprised the invited Haredim with its provocative title: "Behind the Wall: Mrs. Sarah Infeld from the former Gur Hasidim community, in a fascinating discourse on life beyond the Ophel Mountains.".
Haredim invited to the event told Haredim10: "We were shocked by the rudeness and audacity.".
The local government center was told: "Regarding Sarah Einfeld and the 'Dark Mountains' - she may have suffered from a problematic family, there are such people everywhere and in every society. But to convey messages (even if indirect) about the Haredi society as 'dark' is either out of stupidity because you don't know us and judge anyway, or out of malice based on familiarity, and knowledge that a calm, peaceful life that combines matter and spirit is distressing to substance addicts, and therefore defines us as dark. For example, in our opinion and the opinion of a number of experts, living/staring all day in front of illuminated screens produces darkness in the human spirit.".
Sarah Einfeld told Haredim10 in response that she is not familiar with this title and it was not written by her. Her lecture, which is also given to religious audiences, deals solely with her personal life story, and there is nothing against the Haredim. "On the contrary, the lecture includes quite a few bright spots in Haredi society.".
The local government center said: "A mistake, we apologize. Regardless, the plan has been changed.".
