עובדי רשות האוכלוסין וההגירה נוקטים היום בעיצומים ולא מקבלים קהל. זאת, במחאה על עומסים גדולים בלשכות בשל הרחבת המאגר הביומטרי והכנסת מערכת חדשה לניהול תורים. לטענתם, הנהלת המשרד לא נתנה מענה לנושאים, ובכלל זה אי העלאת שכר וקבלת מענקים כספיים. אנשים הזקוקים לחידוש דרכון מופנים ללשכת הרשות בנמל התעופה בן גוריון, שם הם נאלצים לשלם 1,100 שקלים במקום 280 שקלים במשרדי הפנים.
