Like many people, Ali was not spared the phenomenon of procrastination in some important matter that was on the agenda, requiring a long trip to the north of the country, and as the saying goes, "Don't put off until tomorrow what can be put off until the day after tomorrow.".
But 'never be immune', and in the end, the important became urgent and I decided that this was it. Let's go.
The most likely option for this operation was to travel by Israel Railways. Although according to the dispatcher, the trip would take more than two hours, it was the most reasonable course of action.
I arrived at the train station, bought a round-trip ticket, went down to the platform and from there to the train. It should be noted that I had not set foot on this means of transportation for many years, which for me was a new and interesting experience.
I got into the car.
Oh! How beautiful, padded chairs, charging sockets, 'designed' garbage bags and even a table... quite an experience. The carriage was also well soundproofed - between carriages there is a door that closes automatically, so that the noise of the wheels does not disturb the passengers' rest...
The train began its long journey, and I went about my various business, a few phone calls, some reading, and relaxation...
The calm drive without traffic jams and horns, facing new views of the coastal plain, gave me some peace from the race of life.
Until...
Everything was fine and dandy, until the passenger arrived, a phone 'stuck' between his head and shoulder, a bunch of bags in his hands, and making a lot of noise with his feet.
And sat down in the carriage.
Since then, the carriage has become the gentleman's office. He spoke loudly on the phone with many of his acquaintances, about his entire world, large and small, his public and private life, his meals and travels.
Here are some of the man's businesses:
- He has a jewelry business in the Tel Aviv area.
- He has an employee who doesn't sell seriously ['She's only sold for 100 NIS so far...'].
- His father is not feeling well ['Dad, don't go to the market, you need to get stronger'].
- He is very family-oriented ['What do I have besides the children?'].
- And he really likes to eat toast [Is it possible that he's ready for me to arrive..?].
At every stage during our journey together, I hoped in my heart that he would get off at the next stop. But that didn't happen. What did happen was that he got off one stop before me - and gave me food for thought. And for writing.
I thought about how sometimes, perhaps out of lack of attention, we turn our entire private domain into a public network for all intents and purposes, and this time it was very noticeable, given the long journey, in the shadow of that man.
But it could also be at a bus stop or just waiting for something. We're busy on the phone and don't notice the level of 'decibels' coming out of our throats.
Maybe we have the feeling that everyone is watching us and is fascinated by our business, and really eager to know how we manage our lifestyle?
So that's it. No.
This reminds me of what I learned in a child education course that feeling Internal to everyone who sees me!
They look at me. They are interested in me. That's true, but it's directed upwards, an all-seeing eye... You know? Right, ancestral joints.
But nothing more than that, it's just the feeling that confuses us. So no one needs to know what we like to eat after the fast, or how we drink our coffee in the morning.
No one cares about the health of our wives, our parents, and our children, or how much money we have in the bank.
There are things that are ours, private and personal. We will keep them with us.
Some people speak very briefly when they are around people, saying what is necessary, and that's it.
I finally got off the train. I met a friend, between my cities.
How did you get here? I asked.
On the train, he answered.
How was the trip? he asked.
'"'Interesting,' I said, and a smile spread across my lips, I told him.
Next time, he told me, ask for a quiet car, there is one at the beginning of the train for a nominal fee.
If I had known...
I did my business in the north and headed back toward the center.
I sat down in the car again, put my cell phone on silent and... fell into a deep sleep.
