Excitement surrounded the family and friends of B., a graduate of the Hesder Torah Yeshiva in Zion in Jerusalem, on Thursday afternoon, as they gave him his pilot's wings.
Among the graduates of Pilot Course 170, there is B., a married young man, who proves that through willpower, inner truth, and consistency, the sky is the limit.
B. is a graduate of the Hesder Torah Be'Zion Yeshiva in Jerusalem, having completed five years in the Hesder track, during which he served as a soldier in the armored forces. But despite his rewarding and meaningful service, an inner dream burned within him, to fly high, to take off and become a pilot.
The dream came true today.
After five years of meaningful service, you're usually asked to finish with a salute. But not if you have a burning dream of serving from the cockpit.
""If I have the ability to reach the position of the aspirant," B. said to his family, "will I leave now?...".
B. consulted with his Torah yeshiva head in Zion, and together they decided that he would enlist in the course. The course, consisting of six stages, was an opportunity to accompany the Seifa in the Safra. At each stage, B. completed one of the Mishnah's sections and at the end of the week, upon receiving the wings, he conducted the siyam of the entire Shas.
""B. is a humble, gentle, God-fearing young man with good character," says Rabbi Yitzhak Neri-Ha, who accompanied him closely. "Although he could have been released, he chose to carry on his back the beloved burden of serving in the Air Force...".
The President of the State also referred to the pilot's birthday in his remarks, and revealed that he was particularly moved by the second lieutenant, who "graduated from a yeshiva and then enlisted..."'
