Crowdfunding website: 3,500 NIS needed to commemorate 'those who were slaughtered at the Golden Calf'"

Unbelievable, but this madness also exists: Some people are raising funds to commemorate the victims of the 'Golden Calf'.  On the crowdfunding website 'Headstart', members of the journal for contemporary and future poetry 'Hava Lehaba' are raising 3,500 NIS to hold a 'Golden Calf Repair' ceremony. According to the initiators, "The massacre of the Golden Calf is a dark stain in the history of our people. This is the first time, but certainly not the last time, that the religious establishment, fanatical and cruel, raised its hand against freedom of belief and art," according to the report. על פי התכנית "בליל שבועות תשע"ה אנו, חברות וחברי כתב העת לשירה עכשווית ועתידית הבה להבא, בשם העם היהודי ובשם מיליארדי הצאצאים הרוחניים של מעמד הר סיני, מתכוונים לעלות הר כרכום כדי לקיים טקס כפרה ובקשת סליחה היסטורי. "אנו זקוקים לעזרתכם כדי לקיים את הטקס, וכדי להנציח את התיקון ההיסטורי לדורות". בתמורה למימון הטקס הם מציעים "מספר תשורות – מהקראת שמכם בטקס הזכרון, דרך גלויה או פוסטר מהמסע לתיקון עגל הזהב ועד העתק של לוח הזיכרון וקרדיט בסרט, כולן מזכרות לציון התייצבותכם לצד חופש האמונה והאמנות – אך התמורה האמיתית היא תיקון עוול עתיק, הנפת נס החירות והגיוון האנושי, ועשיית צדק עם אותם קדושים, היקום יקום דמם". עד כה הצליח הפרויקט לגייס 386 שקלים מתוך 3500 שאנשיו הציבו כיעד.
