Hear a story: The Haredi rabbi's deal with the Arab baker

מה גורם לבעלים של מאפיית 'אבולעפיה', מאפייה ערבית ידועה בנמל תל אביב, לסגור את העסק לכל ימי חג הפסח? בחשבון הפייסבוק של המסעדה-המאפייה עלה השבוע סיפור מדהים, המדגיש יותר מכל את הערבות ההדדית הטבועה בעם היהודי. "לפני 46 שנה היה לנו שכן ליד המאפייה בשם הרב שלמה זלמן שטאובר, שהחזיק בין היתר מפעל נעליים", מספר סעיד אבולעפיה. "לרב כאב לראות את התורים של היהודים בפסח בפתח מאפייתנו והחליט לתת הצעה מפתה לסבא, סעיד ז"ל, שאני קרוי על שמו. "הרב שאל את סבא סעיד כמה המאפייה הרוויחה בפסח - וסבא ענה לו. זה היה עלות של דירה ביפו בזמנו במחזור של שבוע. "הרב הציע לסבא שידאג לו לכסף אם יסגור בפסח. סבא הסכים ובשבוע הזה עשה שיפוצים במאפייה ונהנה מהחופש. ""Every year, a week before Passover, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Stauber would come with the money - and Grandpa would close on Passover. In the sixth year, Grandpa beat the Rabbi to it and went to the factory with him. Grandpa told the Rabbi that we received such a blessing for the rest of the year due to the fact that we were closing on Passover, that he would continue to close on Passover without payment!"
