The case of presidential candidate Minister Silvan Shalom continues to make waves in the media, while the legal system has not yet decided how to proceed.
The results of a survey, conducted on March 27 (Thursday), analyze the interesting question: What is the public's opinion on the matter?
The survey, published on Galei Israel Radio, was conducted by the Panels Politics research institute, headed by Menachem Lazar.
The survey was conducted with 498 respondents randomly selected from the Panel4All political panel for conducting research via the Internet. The respondents constitute a representative sample of the adult population in the State of Israel - aged 18 and over.
Sampling error 4.6%.
To the question 'Which of the parties are you more inclined to believe, Minister Silvan Shalom or the complainant against him?' - 40% of the respondents replied that they believe Minister Shalom, 24% - the complainant, and 36% responded with 'don't know'.
'"Even if the latest accusations against Minister Silvan Shalom end in nothing, do you think they have harmed Minister Shalom's presidential race?" was the next question.
80% of the respondents responded that harm was caused, 17% believed that no harm was caused, and 3% responded with 'don't know'.
Those surveyed were also asked whether they thought Minister Shalom was worthy of being President of the State of Israel. 31% of them responded that he was worthy, but 55% believed he was unworthy. Another 14% responded, "Don't know.".
