MK Fuad Ben-Eliezer will undergo a kidney transplant next week, journalist Amnon Abramowitz revealed last night on the Ulpan Shishi program on Channel 2.

Ben Eliezer, one of the two leading candidates in the race for president, is currently undergoing dialysis three times a week and will undergo the surgery immediately after Independence Day. The medical procedure will not prevent Ben Eliezer from running for the senior position.

The MK confirmed the facts today and said that it was a 'minor surgery.' Ben Eliezer also revealed the identity of the kidney donor, saying that it was one of two people, one of whom was 'known to him': "I actually see the other one every day, because he is one of my children." Ben Eliezer also said that "the MKs can rest assured because a week after the surgery, I promise that I will be back to full activity.".

Ben Eliezer was also asked about reports this week that he gambles in casinos in England, and said that these are stories that stem from 'jealousy and hatred.' "If anyone has something against me and believes I am corrupt, let them run and complain to the police," he said.
