Cross all boundaries: Fashion designer Milli Dahan held a fashion show at the Bethel Synagogue, known as the international synagogue of the Tzohar Rabbinical Organization in Tel Aviv, with the models walking through the synagogue space to the sounds of the cantor group singing "Shalom Aleichem Malachi Hashalom.".

In the photos, which are no less shocking, models are seen walking in revealing clothing and with obvious immodesty in front of the Ark of the Covenant in the synagogue, while dozens of women and men watch and photograph them.

In the middle stands the Israeli choir of cantors, 'Bat Kol', singing verses.

This surreal, not to mention bizarre, appearance is not from a Reform synagogue - which would also apparently have avoided this severe provocation - but rather from an Orthodox synagogue.

Carpets from synagogues

The exhibition's public relations page states: "The young and intriguing designer draws inspiration for her designs from religion. During the process we went through with her to understand who she is and what can be done with her in terms of public relations, we realized that she has a collection of antique carpets, also taken from synagogues, and that part of the influence on her work stems from her interest in the magnificent stained glass windows in synagogues.".

Fashion designer Gili Elgabi guided us through the process and explained that he was planning to produce a fashion show.

The result is here: a fashion show produced inside a synagogue space. Models walk with the designer's majestic designs to the sounds of cantors singing instead of a typical DJ.

The show was filmed for the original production of Israeli hot entertainment 'It Girls' as well as for leading fashion blogs and media outlets from the wider media.

Epilepsy in the synagogue

While waiting for the bizarre show, one of the models had an epileptic seizure and screams began to be heard throughout the synagogue. The injured model was quickly evacuated by ambulance, and the show continued with the bizarre concept.

Heavenly punishment? The girl's confession to the despicable act?

Milly Dahan's public relations office stated: "The 2015 winter collection draws its inspiration from the motifs and architecture of synagogues around the world. The connection between the inspiration and a synagogue was only natural. We apologize to anyone who found fault with this connection. The synagogue gave its consent for the event to be held within its walls.".
