IDF forces today (Tuesday) eliminated a terrorist who crossed from Lebanon in the Ramim Ridge area into Israeli territory and fired at an IDF force.

The terrorist, who was armed with a rifle and a knife, was identified inside Israeli territory, a short distance from the fence.

This is an unusual event, which led to the activation of the "Night Knight B" procedure - a procedure for preparing for terrorist infiltration.

During the incident, the terrorist fired at an IDF force. The force returned fire and killed him.

Following the identification, residents of the area were instructed to stay in their homes. At the same time, emergency response teams in the area's communities were briefed.

The IDF began searches to rule out the presence of additional suspects and to ensure that there is no additional threat to nearby communities.

Air Force aircraft were also scrambled to the area.

Following the security incident, residents of Misgav Am, Margaliot and Manara were instructed by the HaVashtz to stay home and not roam the communities.

The road connecting Yiftach and Manara - Highway 886 on the Ramim ridge - was blocked to vehicle traffic.

Doron Kadosh, the military correspondent for the Israeli military, wrote additional details about the incident of the terrorist's infiltration into Israeli territory in the Ramim Ridge area - after an initial investigation was conducted.

According to the investigation, the terrorist infiltrated an Israeli enclave beyond the border fence in Lebanon, and wore a Hezbollah military uniform.

  1. During an operation by IDF forces inside southern Lebanon, the forces detected shooting at them. The shooting was directed at the forces operating inside Lebanon, and the exchange of fire took place right on the border fence.
  2. After the forces eliminated the terrorist and searched the area, the terrorist's body was located in an Israeli enclave, beyond the border fence. In other words: officially the terrorist penetrated into Israeli territory - but as far as is known, he did not penetrate the perimeter fence and did not enter civilian space. The enclave beyond the border fence is, of course, military territory.
  3. The terrorist whose body was found was wearing a Hezbollah military uniform, and a weapon and a knife were found on his body.
  4. At this stage, no additional findings have been located. Scans are continuing - including using UAVs from the air, as well as special forces and infantry forces on the ground, but so far nothing has been located.
