The Shin Bet and the police arrested an Israeli citizen, a resident of Haifa, who carried out security missions for Iranian intelligence officials: a prosecutor's statement was filed in his case this morning

As part of a combined operation by the Shin Bet and the police, Raanan Ohana, 44, a resident of Haifa, was arrested in May on suspicion of committing security offenses after he had contact with Iranian intelligence officials and carried out security missions under their direction.

The investigation revealed that in recent months, Ohana had been in contact with elements who were acting against him under business cover.

In addition, it emerged that as part of the connection, between January and March, including during the "Harry's Roar" war, the suspect carried out several missions for which he received sums of money in digital currencies - including photography missions in sensitive areas, despite the fact that he understood that he was an Iranian foreign agent.

This investigation and other ongoing investigations indicate that Iranian intelligence officials are working more vigorously to promote proactive approaches to citizens of the State of Israel, including on social media, under the pretext of job offers and proposals of a romantic nature.

This morning, a statement of claim against Raanan Ohana was submitted to the Haifa District Court, and an indictment against him will be filed in the coming days.
