Jerusalem District police arrested three Haredim tonight (Tuesday) suspected of involvement in the violent disturbance of order and the break-in at the police station complex in Beit Shemesh, about a week ago.

According to police, last Monday, rioters forced open one of the station gates and entered the premises. During the incident, violent disorder developed that included vandalism, placing rocks on traffic routes, and setting fires that damaged trees and vegetation in the area.

Police forces and Border Guard soldiers operating at the scene pushed the rioters out of the compound and dispersed the gathering using riot control measures.

Following the incident, an investigation was opened at the Beit Shemesh police station, during which suspicion was formed against three key people involved.

Last night, the station's detectives raided the homes of the suspects - aged 26, 46 and 56, residents of the city - and detained them for questioning.

The police said that at the end of the investigation, the suspects will be brought to court, where the police will request an extension of their detention.

Jerusalem District Commander, Chief Avshalom Peled, said: "The serious incident that occurred at the Beit Shemesh station, in which rioters started a violent riot and broke into the station compound, constitutes crossing a red line and a direct attack on the legal institutions of the State of Israel.".

He said, "We will not tolerate any harm to symbols of government and to police officers who work to protect the law and the public. The arrests made tonight are just one step in a determined and ongoing enforcement activity against everyone who was involved in the events.".
