An unusual incident occurred today (Monday), during an operational activity in southern Lebanon: an Air Force helicopter, which was launched on a mission to evacuate wounded people from the area, was forced to land in the rescue area - but was unable to take off again due to a technical malfunction discovered in it.
As soon as the incident was reported, another Air Force helicopter was scrambled to complete the mission of evacuating the wounded and bringing them for medical treatment in Israel.
At the same time, Air Force technical teams were dispatched to the landing zone in southern Lebanon to try to repair the disabled helicopter in the field.
After the technical teams worked under complex terrain conditions, the fault was fixed and the helicopter was able to take off safely from the area and return to its base.
The IDF emphasized that despite the sensitive location, the helicopter was not hit by enemy fire and the malfunction was purely technical.
The helicopter was scrambled to rescue three IDF fighters who were lightly injured today during an operational activity in southern Lebanon, after an explosive drone launched at them exploded near them.
The IDF reported that the fighters were evacuated to receive medical treatment at a hospital.
The incident occurred during the morning hours, when the force was operating in the southern Lebanon area as part of the ongoing effort to eliminate threats in the region.
