During a discussion held today (Monday) at the State Audit Committee on the Dead Sea Plants concession, an outrageous fact was revealed.

During the discussion, and in response to a question from the chairman of the United Torah Judaism faction, MK Uri Maklev, it became clear that the Dead Sea Works transfers a huge sum of approximately 70 million shekels to the Tamar Regional Council every year, as part of the concession agreements and various payments.

In light of the disclosure of the data, MK Maklev, at the request of MK Gafni, sharply criticized the representatives of the regional council - and wondered: Why, despite the large budgets, is the level of maintenance on the separate beach in the Dead Sea poor and deplorable?

Maklev noted that his office, as well as the office of Degel Hatorah chairman MK Moshe Gafni, receives many inquiries from citizens complaining about severe neglect at the separate beach in Ein Bokek. "With so much money you receive, can't you even take care of basic services?" Maklev scolded the council representatives.

""People come here from all over the country and even from abroad, many of them for urgent medical needs, and find a beach without minimal conditions for getting organized. How is it possible that one nearby beach is clean and well-maintained throughout the day, while the separate beach is neglected in such a way?""

During the discussion, council representatives tried to claim that there are regulated services in the area, and even pointed out that there is a kiosk and services at the nearby public beach.

This answer provoked the wrath of MK Maklev, who responded firmly: "A person comes to a separate beach to maintain his lifestyle and the boundaries of modesty, and you suggest he go to another beach to find basic conditions?!“

Recall that the Dead Sea Works concession - currently under the ICL company - grants the right to extract minerals such as potash and bromine. The current concession is expected to end in 2030, when the state is promoting a new legal memorandum in preparation for a future tender, within the framework of which a reduction in the concession areas is planned.

The separate beach in question, located north of the Leonardo Club Hotel, is considered one of the most sought-after beaches among the ultra-Orthodox public due to the permanent partition in the water and free access, but now it appears that the fight to improve conditions there is escalating.
