The Jerusalem District Court heard this morning (Thursday) a petition by Senior Lieutenant General Ruthie Hauslich against National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir - claiming that he delayed her promotion for political rather than substantive reasons.

According to a report in Kan News, after hearing the allegations, Judge Tamar Bar Asher suggested that the minister reconsider the delay in the officer's promotion.

The minister accepted the proposal. His response will be submitted in ten days.

Attorney David Peter, who represents Minister Ben Gvir, claimed that Hauslich's promotion was revoked because she misled the Knesset in a discussion in the Constitution Committee on the issue of incitement, a claim that Hauslich denies. According to her, she presented the police position according to the instructions of her commanders, following a discussion held in the VIP and with the advice of the Commissioner's Office.

The representative of the government's legal counsel told the court: "The police themselves found that she was the most suitable officer for promotion. There is a problematic message here that the promotion of police officers depends on obedience. The outcome of the procedure has a direct impact on the possibility of maintaining the independence of the Israel Police.".

Judge Bar Asher: "They come to her with claims because she presents the organization's position. After those discussions, they came to her with the claim that she does not present the position of the Jerusalem District. But as the authorized entity currently responsible for incitement on the networks, she collects the information she knows. She does not need to bring the information from the Jerusalem District.".

The judge suggested: "If my lord believes that the minister will review the decision again, we will give him a few days. If not, then we will issue a ruling now." Attorney Peter said: "We will consider the matters and provide an answer.".

It was determined that the minister will respond by April 26th.
