The confrontation between Communications Minister Shlomo Kerei and the chairman of the Economy Committee, MK David Bitan, over Bitan's opposition to the broadcasting reform promoted by Kerei, is escalating.
The current battle began yesterday, when Minister Kari said in an interview with Knesset Channel that Bitan is "a headache for the Likud public.".
Bitan did not remain unmoved and responded today on the B network: "The real headache for the Likud is actually a communications minister who came to us from Shas and is actually not a true Likudnik.".
The Minister of Communications, as expected, did not remain silent and escalated the conflict when he tweeted a harsh attack on the X network: "A true Likudnik does not vote against the Likud, does not vote against Prime Minister Netanyahu, and certainly does not drag him into a political crisis on the eve of a confrontation with Iran.
""A true Likudnik does not cooperate with the left to torpedo right-wing reforms, in the economy, in the law, and in the media, does not bury right-wing laws in his committee, and does not shoot down initiatives of the Likud and the coalition on whose behalf he was elected.".
He added: "He who talks, walks and behaves like an opposition - is an opposition. He who thwarts right-wing policy - acts against right-wing voters. A real Likudnik does not cause chronic headaches for the Likud, the coalition and the prime minister. David Bitan is a full-fledged opposition. Likud in disguise. A fake Likudnik.".
