Just hours after the launch of Trump's 'Peace Council', it is already trampling on Israeli interests: Palestinian technocrat Prime Minister Ali Shaath declared in a video today (Thursday) that the Rafah Crossing will open next week in both directions.
Israeli officials initially denied this, but a political source later confirmed that "a special effort is underway to return the late Ran Gueili, while exhausting the information in our possession. The cabinet will discuss this issue and the issue of opening the Rafah crossing at the beginning of the week.".
Immediately after the announcement that Israel would "discuss the issue," Nikolai Mladov, the senior representative to the Peace Council, declared: "I am excited to announce an agreement to open the Rafah crossing.".
Taliq, the mother of the kidnapped Ran Gueili, responded: "We were not informed of any intention to open the Rafah crossing - and I very much hope that it will not happen.".
Earlier, a security source said that the Rafah Crossing would not open until the last abductee, Ran Gueili, was returned, and Trump later said at the launch: "Hamas must release the last abductee, only then can we move on, until Gaza is demilitarized.".
The president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, also spoke at the ceremony, praising the council members - and emphasizing: "We work closely with Israel and work closely with Hamas to ensure disarmament. Hamas calls for the destruction of Israel. We cannot work with that.".
According to him, the Gaza Strip can be rebuilt within a few years: "We don't have a Plan B. We will work on our master plan. We can build the new Gaza within 3 years.".
The 'Peace Council' is already presenting a grandiose reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, which will include the construction of a port and airport, a railway network, an urban ring road, and a main highway loop to connect the various urban centers.
