The Qatari Al-Arabi TV channel reported today (Sunday) that Israel estimates that the United States will soon attack Iran - in light of the expansion of protests in the country and the rising death toll among civilians.
Sources told the channel that the IDF has raised its alert level and is strengthening its air defense systems out of fear of an Iranian response against Israel.
Over the weekend, several situation assessments were held in the IDF, headed by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir. "We are monitoring what is happening in Iran, the protests are an internal Iranian matter," said a senior IDF official.
However, "the IDF is prepared for defense and is constantly improving capabilities and operational readiness. We will know how to respond forcefully if necessary. The IDF will do whatever is necessary to protect the citizens of the State of Israel.".
In recent days, United States President Donald Trump has issued several threats against the Iranian regime, stating that if protesters are harmed, the United States will be forced to respond.
American officials said that, alongside the option of strikes against the Iranian regime, the administration is also examining deterrent measures such as reinforcement of forces in the region, cyberattacks, and "awareness" operations.
Iranian President Masoud Pazakhian today openly addressed the widespread protests against the regime in his country – and pointed an accusing finger at the United States and Israel. He said that both are working to undermine internal stability in Iran and encourage a civil uprising.
The Iranian president claimed in a statement to the media: "After the 12-Day War, Iran's enemies want to sow chaos. My government is determined to solve the people's economic problems. Terrorists linked to foreign powers are killing innocents, burning mosques, and destroying public property. The United States and Israel are orchestrating the protests into riots, riots, and acts of destruction. They are encouraging and backing the rioters.".
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the drama at a cabinet meeting today and expressed hope that Israel and Iran will return to being friends as they were before the Islamic Revolution.
""We all hope that the Persian nation will soon be freed from the yoke of tyranny," Netanyahu said, "and when that day comes, Israel and Iran will once again be loyal partners in building a future of prosperity and peace for both peoples.".
