A turtle swallowed a turtle - and no, this is not a joke. Lola is a medium-sized turtle whose X-rays revealed that he swallowed a metal pendant, made in the shape of... a turtle.

Lola is a male African tortoise who has been suffering from stomach and eating problems lately. His concerned owner rushed the tortoise to a veterinary clinic in Miami, where he had a CT scan.

Dr. Don Harris told a Sky News reporter about the results: "I've been a veterinarian for over 35 years, and I've seen countless foreign body ingestions. But I've never seen an animal swallow a foreign body that was identical to its own reflection.".

The veterinarian also said that it is not uncommon for turtles to swallow their young immediately after giving birth. Lola now faces surgery if the metallic turtle does not come out naturally.
