Turkish dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan slapped a small boy just for not kissing his hand as a sign of respect.
Al-Arabiya reported that the boy took the stage during a ceremony to award keys to new apartments to families affected by natural disasters in the state of Rize, in northeastern Turkey, and did not kiss the president's hand.
Erdogan gave his speech at a local ceremony, and then two children came up to the stage and kissed his hand, as is customary. The little boy came up next. In a video from the event, Erdogan is seen looking at the boy for a while, then lightly slapping him on the cheek - while the boy looks at the president innocently.
A man standing next to the president approached the boy and explained to him what needed to be done - then he kissed the president's hand and accepted the award.
It should be noted that the Turkish custom is for a young person to kiss the hand of the older person, the "old man," and place it on his forehead as a sign of respect and appreciation.
